Sculptra® - Activate Skin Power

Sculptra®

Sculptra® is a poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) biostimulator that stimulates the body's own collagen production in the deep layers of the skin. The dermal filler is injected into the skin areas to be treated to trigger inflammatory reactions that stimulate collagen formation and tighten connective tissue. Through this process, the skin regains its elasticity and wrinkles can be visibly smoothed.

Sculptra is therefore not a direct filler and not a classic filler. The polylactic acid stimulates the body's own collagen production and has a significantly longer effect than hyaluronic acid. The treatment effectively counteracts the loss of volume, stimulates skin tightening and prevents facial aging.

Sculptra® vs. Hyaluron-Filler: What's the difference?

In contrast to conventional hyaluronic fillers, Sculptra® has the advantage that it not only fills up the volume of the skin, but also stimulates the body's own collagen production. As a result, the volume increase of a Sculptra® treatment lasts for several months/years, while the result of a hyaluronic acid injection only lasts about 6 months.

Which wrinkles can be injected with Sculptra®?

Due to its special properties, Sculptra® is particularly suitable for treating deep wrinkles and skin tightening. Especially wrinkles on the chin, nasolabial folds, sunken temples, marionette lines and sagging cheeks can be treated excellently with Sculptra®. The contouring of the jawline is also possible using Sculptra®.

A Sculptra® treatment alone is not recommended for expression lines such as forehead wrinkles or crow's feet. We recommend a Botox wrinkle treatment. The same applies to lip injections and nose corrections, for which we use high-quality hyaluronic acid in our practice.

How does a Sculptra® treatment work?

After we have informed you in detail about your treatment and the associated procedure, your face will first be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected in order to keep the risk of infection as low as possible. We then draw in the areas to be treated and, if you wish, administer a local anesthetic to avoid pain at the puncture site.

The Sculptra® solution is then injected evenly into the top layer of the subcutaneous tissue using a thin cannula.

How long does a Sculptra® treatment last?

The treatment of a small area is usually completed after 30 minutes. The duration of the treatment of a larger area is up to 60 minutes.

How many treatments are necessary?

The number of treatments required depends on the number and depth of the regions to be treated. On average, patients require 2-4 treatments. In rare cases you may only need one or more than 4 treatments. The treatments are usually carried out at intervals of 6-8 weeks.

What should be considered after the Sculptra® treatment?

After the treatment, you should refrain from applying make-up to avoid contamination. In the first 24 hours after the treatment, you should also cool the treated areas several times a day to reduce the swelling. You should also avoid direct skin contact and UV light until the redness and swelling have subsided.

When is the full result visible?

Since Sculptra® is injected in a water-based solution, an increase in volume is visible immediately after the treatment. The increase in volume recedes slightly as the water breaks down until the new collagen is formed. The final result of the treatment is visible after about 2-3 months.

How long does Sculptra® last?

The special feature of Sculptra® is that the effect of the treatment is independent of the breakdown of the filler, since the volume is created by stimulating collagen production. Because the body's own collagen forms, the result can last for several years. The prerequisite for this is that patients undergo a treatment series of 2 to 4 sessions.

What are the risks or side effects?

In principle, treatments with dermal fillers in aesthetic plastic medicine only involve a low risk of complications. This also includes the Sculptra® treatment. After the treatment, there may be slight swelling, redness, bleeding, pain or bruising at the puncture sites. These side effects are part of the natural healing process and will go away on their own within a short period of time.

How much does the Sculptra® treatment cost?

The costs for a Sculptra® treatment can vary greatly, as several different factors influence the price composition. The required quantity of the preparation has the greatest influence on the costs of the Sculptra® treatment. We charge 600 € for the treatment of both cheeks using 1 ampoule (dilution to 8ml). If another ampoule is used in the same session, the price increases by approximately 450 €.

Conclusion

The Sculptra® treatment is ideal for treating wrinkles and skin tightening and is a good alternative to surgery.
