Specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery
Hello dear patient,
My name is Dr. Mathias Kremer-Thum, and I have been pleased to be part of the medical team at the Park Clinic as a specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery since 2025.
I was born in Saarland, but due to my parents' work, I grew up in Krefeld, on the Lower Rhine, where I attended school and completed my Abitur (university entrance qualification). After my civilian service in nursing at the Alexianer Hospital in Krefeld, I moved to Freiburg im Breisgau to begin my medical studies at the Albert-Ludwigs-University. Interspersed with enriching internships and study visits, including at the University Hospital Zurich, Downtown Hospital in New York, Harvard Medical School in Boston, as well as in Australia and New Zealand, I spent my entire medical studies in Freiburg.
After passing my second state examination, I began my scientific work at the University Hospital of Freiburg as part of an experimental doctoral thesis. Following an initial stay in Berlin as a resident physician at the Charité (Campus Benjamin Franklin), I moved to Switzerland in 2004, where I completed my basic training in general surgery in Bern and Valais.
From there, in 2006, I joined the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery with a Severe Burn Injury Center at the University Hospital of Schleswig-Holstein and Lübeck to complete my specialist training in plastic surgery. In 2010, I obtained my board certification in plastic and aesthetic surgery. Here, I was able to resume my scientific work and focus on skin regeneration after burns. During this time, I gave numerous presentations at national and international conferences and published the results of my research. After completing my specialist training in Lübeck and a brief period as a senior consultant in the department, I accepted a position at the Medical One cosmetic surgery clinic in Munich (Grünwald) in 2010, where I worked as a consultant until 2012.
In 2012, I moved to the Berlin location of Medical One as the deputy to the medical director, Prof. Dr. Klaus Plogmeier. There, I served as medical director from 2020 to 2023, before establishing my own practice at the Ambulatory Center Berlin in Berlin-Friedrichshain.
To stay up-to-date in my field of aesthetic surgery, I regularly attend conferences both in Germany and abroad. I am the father of two sons, who keep me busy in my free time. When possible, I spend a lot of time in the garden with my chickens or take long bike rides in Berlin and Brandenburg.
Dr. med. Ursula Tanzella and her team will be happy to advise you personally.
