A thread lift complements wrinkle treatments with a muscle-relaxing medication (facial expressions are relaxed) or hyaluronic acid (smoothing of wrinkles and adding volume). Sagging and slackened structures, for example in the cheek area, forehead and eyebrows, the neck and décolleté, breast, abdomen and buttocks, are lifted and tightened by a thread lift. During the treatment, medical threads are inserted under the skin. There they stimulate the formation of new collagen, making the skin firmer, smoother and fresher. This natural stimulation of the body’s own processes is a great advantage of a lift without a scalpel.
Thread lift with PDO (Polydioxanone)
PDO is a material that has been used in vascular and cardiac surgery for years. The threads are inserted with a thin needle to which they are attached. These threads cause a “biostimulation” in the skin: cells around the thread are stimulated to form tissue and new collagen is produced. The skin volume increases and there is a tightening and lifting effect. The result is visible after 4 – 8 weeks.
PDO threads are available in different designs and lengths: single threads, spiral threads, double spiral threads and barbed threads. Your skin condition, the body region and the treatment goal ultimately determine the choice of thread. We will determine together in a detailed consultation which threads are best suited for you. The thread dissolves again after 4 – 6 months. Because new collagen fibres form, the result remains visible for longer (about 1 – 2 years). The treatment can be repeated as often as desired.
A thread lift with PDO threads can be combined with hyaluronic acid injections. A very effective combination is simultaneous treatment with autologous PRP or with autologous fat and autologous PRP. PDO threads are particularly suitable for preventing loss of elasticity, for the beginning of sinking facial contours, for large-area application in the face, and when a combination with other procedures (autologous PRP, autologous fat) is desired, in the following regions: neck, décolleté, arms, breast, abdomen, inner thighs, buttocks and knees.
How long does a thread lift last?
The effect becomes visible after 4 – 8 weeks. The PDO threads themselves dissolve completely after about 4 – 6 months. The new formation of collagen stimulated by the threads keeps the result visible for longer – about 1 to 2 years. The treatment can be repeated any number of times. How long the result lasts in your individual case, we will clarify in a personal consultation.

The cost of a thread lift depends on the treated region. At Park-Klinik Birkenwerder, the following starting prices apply, each including 19 % VAT, plus anaesthesia:
- Mouth region: from 300 €
- Cheek region: from 500 €
- Eye region: from 1.000 €
- Neck region: from 1.100 €
- Sagging cheeks (jowls): from 1.250 €
